Contest Dates
The date for the Club contest, usually held in the Avon Library, has not yet been set; usually it is in mid to late February. Boy and girl winners of the Club level contest move on to the Regional Contest which will be held as arranged by the Indiana South District, then the boy and girl winners of each Regional Contest move on to the District Finals, to be held at the Third Quarter District Meeting in Greensburg, Indiana on Saturday, April 14, 2012.

Who is Eligible
The Oratorical Contest is open to students under the age of 18 years as of December 31 of the 2011-2012 school year (December 31, 2011) who have not yet graduated from high school or the equivalent.
Contestants may participate in only one Club Oratorical Contest per year. Each applicant is required to give a 4- to 5-minute speech. Winners progress to the next level.

Avon Optimist Club Oratorical Contest Information
The Avon Club Contest begins with school-level contests arranged by the Avon Schools and Kingsway Christian School. Boys and girls compete separately. If you would like your child to participate, please contact his or her school to learn how the contests are arranged. Home-schooled students may participate as well, please contact the Avon Optimist Club for information.

Contest Prizes
Club prize: First, Second, and Third Place Medallion for boys and girls
Regional prize: Plaque for boy and girl winners.
District prize: Plaque and $2,500 scholarship for boy and girl winners.
