Avon Optimist Club Math Bee
A Competition for Third and Fourth Grade Boys and Girls

Here are some of the 2008 competitors.

What's a Math Bee!
The Math Bee is a contest sponsored by the Avon Optimist Club. Their teachers select one boy and one girl from each third and fourth grade class in the Avon Schools and Kingsway Christian School, and the students compete to be the first one done with the most number of correct answers. There are several first-round competitions, then the first round winners move on to the final round. Student winners get ribbons and bragging rights, and a Traveling Trophy goes to the school with the highest percentage of correct answers from all competitors.
The 2011 Math Bee was held at Kingsway Christian School on April 21st. 125 third and fourth graders from 7 different elementary schools participated.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this program possible, especially our hosts Kingsway School and the teacher and staff volunteers, program chair Carolyn Moench and all the Optimists and volunteer judges.
